Why Select Barrett Sports Lighting?
Barrett Sports Lighting has also accumulated a wealth of experience installing lighting in schools, hospitals, shopping centres, factories, universities and cinemas. The company has the capacity to complete any project with the maximum of professionalism and a decided minimum of fuss.
We can do complete turnkey package, including the building and civil works, the lighting and the final design.
One of the most immediate difficulties encountered during the installation of floodlighting is that sports grounds are generally located in low-lying areas, so there is quite a large degree of work involved in designing and installing bases for the tall floodlighting poles, sometimes on piling which has sunk deep into the ground, as well as installing duct systems for cabling around the pitch. Switch control gear must be designed and manufactured and large floodlight applications require two 450kva generators.
On all the projects completed to date, Barrett Sports Lighting has exclusively used Thorn and Philips lighting. It is important to get the perfect light spread and also to minimise the spill of light. This is an area where many compititors have come unstuck. Installing floodlighting is very much a specialist line of work. It requires great skill to crane up 37 metre poles and position 32 lights on top of them. Not a job for the faint-hearted. It is the sort of work that only a total professional with years of experience could confidently attempt.
The installation of floodlighting at county grounds, from start to completion, takes approximately three months, and flexibility is almost as important as the pre-planning. Escape lighting is something else that needs to be considered. We have to work closely with other contractors who are on site and, on major venues, we need to work around the fixtures that are taking place. The unpredictable Irish weather is always a concern but it's just another factor which we have the expertise to work around.
